Privacy Policy

Landmark Identifier (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) helps you identify landmarks, save discoveries, find nearby places, ask travel questions, and listen to generated audio guides. This policy explains what information is processed when you use those features.

Information processed

The app may process the following information when you choose to use the relevant feature:

• Photos: A photo you capture or select is sent for landmark identification.
• Location: With your permission, precise location may be used to improve landmark matches or find nearby places. Location is optional and is requested only when a location-aware feature needs it.
• Travel questions and AI content: Text you submit to the AI guide, landmark context, and text used to generate an audio guide are sent to the AI service to provide the requested response.
• Technical request data: Our AI routing provider may process and retain an originating IP address, response status, limited request metadata such as token or audio-file size, and an error response body when a request fails. This information is used for service security, rate limiting, troubleshooting, and operation.
• Purchases: Apple processes subscription purchases through StoreKit. We receive entitlement status and product identifiers, but we do not receive payment-card details.

The app does not require an account and does not collect your name, email address, contacts, advertising identifier, or payment-card information through normal app use.

How information is used

Information is processed only to:

• identify a landmark and provide relevant travel context;
• answer travel-guide questions;
• generate an audio guide;
• find nearby places and estimate distance;
• verify app requests, prevent abuse, and keep the AI service reliable; and
• confirm and restore Premium subscription access.

We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Service providers

AI features are provided through:

• AIProxy, which securely routes requests, verifies legitimate app instances, applies rate limits, and records limited technical request data. See AIProxy’s Privacy Policy.
• OpenAI, which processes photos and text for landmark identification, chat responses, and text-to-speech audio. OpenAI handles this information under its applicable API data terms, retention settings, and privacy policy. See OpenAI’s Privacy Policy.
• Apple, which provides StoreKit subscription processing, maps, photo selection, location permission controls, and platform services. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.

These providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their retention and security practices are governed by their respective terms and by the service configuration used for the app.

Information stored on your device

Saved landmarks, selected landmark photos, coordinates associated with saved landmarks, identification counts, appearance preferences, and achievement progress are stored locally on your device. Generated audio guides may be cached locally to avoid generating the same guide repeatedly.

You can remove locally stored app information by choosing Settings > Clear All App Data. iOS may also remove cached files automatically. Deleting the app removes its local data from the device.

Retention and deletion

We do not operate a user-account database for the app. Content sent to AIProxy and OpenAI is retained only as permitted by their applicable service terms and our service configuration. Technical request records retained by AIProxy can be managed through the developer service account.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy when app features or service providers change. The effective date above identifies the latest version.
